– In a brief synopsis, buy it. Seriously. The long answer: Truly astounding at this price, I have no idea how they do it. This meter could easily compete with many that are hugely more expensive, including my Fluke. It has excellent build quality with easy access to the fuses at the rear (see picture), and internally the PCB has excellent separation on the 10A input with proper protection, including a few beefy MOVs in series. The display is huge and clear and all of the functions are accurate to spec. The manual is brief but in proper English. I’m usually wary when a low cost meter claims a Cat II 1000V rating but inspecting it internally, it does indeed meet EN61010 and I’d be perfectly happy using it on a job. The meter looks very similar to the ones sold by Amecal as used by Bigclive and the “custom” meter that EEVBlog sold and I suspect it’s either the same OEM or that AstroAI (a mysterious entity) is the manufacturer. Essentially it’s the same meter as these. It also includes a nice component tester plugin (see picture) for transistors and capacitors. I wouldn’t much bother with the included thermocouple for all but the most basic tasks but you can easily plug in a better one. Again, no idea how they can sell this at this price point.

I do this for the benefit of the HAM Radio operators who want to repair their own equipment, but who are on a fixed income. I’ll post a full review with photos there in a couple weeks. This review is for the typical homeowner or DIY hobbyist who wants an inexpensive but full-featured meter. For comparison, I tested this meter against a much more expensive Amprobe AM-570.

A couple of minor kinks, but overall an excellent multimeter – I ordered this for one reason only. To trace what appeared to be a parasitic drain in my Jeep. I felt pretty stupid when I was done.
