Plastic gate from the molding had to be trimmed. – Reel worked fine winding up an electric fence poly-line. But only after trimming the gate from where the reel was molded. As shipped it would go 1/2 turn or so and then jam.

Not the very best reel, but PERFECT for my backwash hose – I didn’t realize this reel was smaller than “standard” ones I’ve seen before, but the size is actually perfect to store 50 feet of flat backwash hose (approx. 2.25 inches wide) for my pool. The smaller reel diameter is better for storing that than the larger size would have been. The width of the reel fits my flat hose comfortably. In fact, for the sake of those out there who use a full 100-foot backwash hose, I wrapped another 50 feet around the reel to show how a 100 foot hose might fit – you’re welcome! 🙂

A little short – Product says it hold 100 ft cord which it barely does. would have been nice to have a little extra height. I would suggest max of 75 ft to hold a cord. my preference though.

Works for a flexible hose – I bought this for storing my flexible water hose, and it does a good job for our AquaJoe 75 ft…makes it easier to drain the hose as you reel it up.

Does the job – Overall it is a good product but not as sturdy as others i have used in the past. There are a number of cutouts which will help you secure the power cord as you put it on the reel. It does have the hand holds to help with wrapping or unwrapping the power cord. It is a lighter weight product but remember with lighter weight there is usually a trade off in strength.
