Buy the GE brand not a knock-off – Only buy this filter…the oem product. I purchased a $10 less filter that fit but would not reset the filter expiration. The listing said it had the chip but clearly either did not or was used. I then went to this oem filter with subscribe and save and it is only $4 more than the knock-off and works perfectly.

Expensive, but works well – This filter works well and lasts for six months, but it is pricey…. quite a bit more than other refrigerator filters, and GE found a way to embed a chip in the filter so that you have to use this filter. The older GE refrigerators used the RPWF filter at almost $ 20 less, but it doesn’t have the chip. The new refrigerators aren’t compatible with those, but require the new version. It’s touted as a feature, monitoring the filter for leaks and timing until it should be replaced. If I had known the price of the filter upfront, I wouldn’t have bought this appliance set. Aside from that, the filter is good. Our water comes from a well and has a lot of metallic minerals in it. The taste is not great, but running it through this filter cleans the water and makes it, as well as the ice, taste great and really fresh. So five stars for everything except value for the money.

Simply the best filter I can buy for my GE fridge by – It’s an OEM filter so it fit perfectly in my GE fridge. While it’s an expensive filter, it’s simply the best! Great taste, no smell. It’s well worth it for the health and safety of my family. Ultimately I think we save money, and the environment, by not buying water bottles.
