It’s got some issues – If you don’t have any kind of a laser, this is probably an ok starting tool. I used it put slope on some gutters i was hanging on the garage. It’s actually a well suited tool for that job, but i did have some issues. It wasn’t clear in the instructions how you change the laser beam from vertical to horizontal. On the more expensive lasers you just hit a button to switch back and forth. On this one you gotta find a flat head screw driver that will fit into the slots on the laser lens and turn the lens manually. In my unit, that did not want to rotate! At least not easily. The whole level started to split in half at first. Another big problem was trying to rotate the laser to exactly horizontal or vertical. That’s pretty much impossible to do with a screw driver in the lens. You can get close though. However to get close, you usually end up with your eyes peering at that slot in the lens where the laser comes out! Again, not the ideal situation. Once you have it set up the way you need it, there is another issue to contend with. The red beam is sharp out of the laser for about 10 feet and then it kind of blurs into a beam that is about a 3/8 inch thick at 20 feet. You can’t tell where the beam really is. I think this is occurring due to some diffraction on the funky rotating lens. So beyond 10 feet, you kind of have to guess where the laser center really is. Again not ideal. For the low cost of the level, I think its still usable, a good deal, and I kept mine. However I did invest in a real unit for my next job!

The leveling problem is easy to fix. – Mine came slightly unleveled. I watched a YouTube how-to video to fix it so I’m good. It came with a mini screwdriver and 6 inch ruler to help assist in fixing the issue.

Just okay – Eh…Does what it’s supposed to do I guess. Light beam could be much brighter. Biggest problem is you’ve got to have someone helping you or it’s basically useless. If one person holds it and levels it and another person is further down the line making a mark or hammering a nail on the laser line it would probably be a good idea. My last level had small spikes/wall grippers that would hold the level in place so one person could attach it to the wall and walk away to make their marks.

May not be as versatile as you think – So since this item was lower in price, I decided to grab it. Sure it can be useful in some ways but it is not that versatile. It would have been easy to incorporate a magnet so it can clamp on to many things like a metal leveler or ladder. It should have a way to clamp to anything. So, not sure how best to use it but will try. I only do small projects around the house so we will see.
