Worthwhile – This does an excellent job keeping my hair from going down the drain. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of suction, but the weight of the medal piece mostly keeps it in place. Catches my straight, medium length hair easily. Does slow water draining, but it still does drain. Easy to clean, my hair seems to just wrap around the cylindrical part so clean up is super easy. Definitely an upgrade over the plastic cheapos

Catches the hair, but also makes a bath out of your shower – I don’t know if it’s by design, but this slows the drain down enough to accumulate about an inch of water in our shower basin before it rises enough to go through about 2/3 of the holes. It’s based on the flow rate of your shower head, which we have removed the water saver – so we are using a lot of water. You may not have the same problem we have. The hair catcher is not completely overwhelmed, so at least we are within design parameters.

Catches the hair but if you use it in the tub, it will take a while for the tub o drain – This product catches the hair bu the tub drains very slowly. I would not recommend this for a shower as it is a hump. This catcher also tends to easily dislodge if you are in the tube with it. Bump it with your foot and it is off the drain. Get out of the tube before you open the drain.

This OXO Silicone Tub Shower Drain Hair Catcher WORKS! – Before using this OXO Silicone Tub Shower Drain Hair Catcher, make sure your drain is clear and flowing freely. Use a toilet plunger on the tub drain to ensure the drain is flowing freely. This procedure must be done to avoid water pooling around the hair catcher when showering. After showering, place the hair catcher, bottom up, on the side to dry to avoid mold developing under the silicone rim.

Hard water means cleaning it more often as soap scum sticks to it and the hair is hard to remove – This definitely keep the hair from going down the drain but it isn’t fun to clean. I was hoping for a harder plastic that would be easy to pull the hair off once it dries but since this is rubber it is harder to remove. Also hard water and soap scum isn’t as easy to clean but I use Dawn Powerwash and it does the trick eventually.

Must Have for Long Haired Folkes – If you have long hair and bathtub with “pop up” kind of drain plug, this is a must have item.

  9. S. I (verified owner)

Works as well as I’d expect – I really like that I found something that doesn’t look as cheap as some other hair catchers. It looks more like it would belong in the tub to begin with. I also really like that it is easier to remove the hair buildup from the ring than other “flat” catchers I’ve used. With that being said, it is a bit annoying that hair still goes past the ring and into the base where it is NOT easy to clean out. The only way I’ve been able to clean that without making it go down another drain it by pulling out the hair with my tweezers. Not a huge deal, but just a bit gross, and was not something I was hoping for when purchasing

Exactly what we needed – We live in a household with several long-haired people. We have a pop-up drain in our shower (as opposed to a flat drain with holes) and originally bought the “TubRing”. While it worked well, it got very moldy very fast and was extremely hard to clean. Eventually we decided to try this one. It’s amazing! In our shower, it has basically no suction whatsoever, but it doesn’t move in the shower at all (can’t speak on baths). Other reviews mention that the height of the holes makes it drain slow, we haven’t experienced that. After every shower, there’s quite a bit of hair stuck around it. After a couple of months, it does leave a bit of grime underneath, around the drain, but the previous drain cover did too, so I suppose it’s unavoidable. This cover does not get moldy itself, but appears easy to clean either way.
