Packaging was damaged – I love these filters! You can use them in so many ways, and they’re so inexpensive it’s (almost) disposable.

Best water filter out there – For the size, money & longevity I don’t think it can be beat. I’ve used one for years now and never had one issue. I backwash it occasionally but if you pre-filter or don’t use dirty water you don’t even have to worry. One misconception I read a lot is this will filter anything. That’s not true. This is for wild water, streams etc. where there may be waterborne parasites. It doesn’t filter city type water, oil, pollutants, chemicale, heavy metals etc. – it is not at all designed for that. You need a special filter for that. This is for the woods, camping etc. For that it’s great.

Using this as a gravity fill with the bladder out, good flow and it cleans up local stream water! – My partner and I started to push our hiking distances a bit and my two liter bladder was not quite enough water to get us through some of the hikes we venture on. Decided it was time to purchase a filter for use in the mountains behind us that we love to spend time in.

Took these to 11,000 feet in the mountains packing with no other water source. Worked great! – Now that the kids are old enough, my wife and I took them to the Sierras back country for a 15 mile hike to camp out on a secluded lake for 10 days. There was no other water source but streams and a lake with no more water coming into it. This was august so, the lake had a lot of rotting wood, leaves and some frogs in it. No fish. The lake water tasted like playdoh through the filter but no one got sick. However, we still always felt thirsty, even though we were hydrating with it. Something was off using that water out of that lake. But we still had faith in the filter and we were right to do so. No one got sick. Just odd how we all felt we weren’t getting enough.

great for backpacking – I took this on a 20 mile overnight backpacking trip where the only water sources were ponds and streams. The water came through clean and tasty, and I never got sick. Job well done, Sawyer!

Works as advertised – Exactly what you would expect no problems love that it connects to a water bottle great for hiking and camping

Easy to use – This is the 4th time I have bought these filters I give them as presents to my camping hiking friends

Performs well, intuitive, lightweight, reasonable. – I’m far from an experienced long range hiker or backpacker. I’m fairly comfortable out in the woods, do about 8-9 miles a day in about 2 hours, and have common sense, but I am not a backwoodswoman (unfortunately). A conveniently-sized filter has been on my “that’d be cool” list for years, and while planning a mountain day hike with my sister I went for it with the Sawyer Mini. This was a 2,500′ elevation gain hike that was expected to clock in around 9 miles round-trip, trail reports said the average run time was about 4h 45m. No problem.
