      This clamp lamp works great. Now – This clamp lamp works great. Now, it is not a real heavy duty like the ones I bought at a supply store many years ago. It is thin aluminum and has a lightweight build. But it functions well. I actually kind of like like that it is a lighter weight metal because when these type of lamps get too top heavy it is hard to keep them angled right. The light bulbs I use are already pretty heavy so I think that having less weight to add on top of that is a good thing. Of course you need to be more careful with it because it will get dings more easily than a heavyweight metal lamp would. I am using it in a pop-up greenhouse and I never really have to move it around or anything so that’s not really an issue for me. Someone working in a garage or shop might want a heavier-duty one but this works perfectly for me. If I find that I need more in the future I will happily order this brand.

      It kind of does the job – I was looking forward to using this with my new grow lightbulb. I am using it, but I have had to adapt for a few issues. The clamp is really stiff and hard to open, which normally I would think it good because then it can camp into things tightly, this is not the case however. The clamp keeps sliding down the wood surface I clamped it to and will not stay up until I gave it a shelf to rest on and keep it from sliding further. The metal light dome also does not fit on the base well as it just kind of droops and sits on it very loosely.

Then I started recording myself for my vlog, but I had the same problem of there being no natural light. So, I tried the clamp light. It worked just fine, but due to the lighting situation I found that I needed light to come from two different angles so I bought a second one. It completely solved the lighting issue for me. I can capture any image now when I record and it is clear and sharp.
