better water – I tried using a refurbished filter, but this one is truly excellent. The local water authority flushes its pipes every now and again and it makes the water taste horrible. The refurbished filter didn’t do much at all. This filter was deliverd the same day and improved the water taste greatly. Intersting fact, when I lived in New York letting the water run resulted in colder water. In Miami letting the water run resulted in warmer water- intesting.

Quality has went downhill – I’ve used this brand as kong.as I’ve had my Friday (5 1/2 yrs) and religiously change my filter every six months. I bought a filter less than a week ago and it stopped working. I figured it was just defective and ordered a second filter yesterday and it is still not working. When we take the filter out the water dispenses fine and the line is not frozen. So disappointing. I will no longer purchase this brand.

Expensive but worth it – We’ve purchased a few off-brand filters in the past and they seem to have two problems: 1. taste is weird or 2. water pressure because the filter clogs or goes bad faster than these. So, from here on out, we’ve vowed to purchase only the OEM filters for our Whirlpool refrigerator. Taste is great (and yes, I’m one of those odd people who can easily tell the difference between brands of bottled water, various pitcher filters, and tap) with no odd odors or aftertastes. And we’ve had no issues with the water pressure as time goes on. As we near the end of the 6 months these are suggested for, I will have to adjust the auto-fill because it starts to slow a bit. Otherwise, no issues with these filters and even though yes, they are expensive – it’s worth it to us.

EXACT OEM replacement – This is the original OEM filter that I needed for my Whirlpool refrigerator. It appears there aren’t any generic or knockoff replacements for this that are really worth the money paid. This is clearly expensive for a water filter, but I cannot find a suitable other replacement at this point in time.
