Better Than Normal Strainers – With a normal strainer, if you poured anything larger than a cup of water into the sink at once, it would start to clog up, even if the strainer was completely clean. With this one, I can pour half a pot of water into the sink with no problem. Definitely much better than a regular one.

Must have kitchen items! – I wish I had known about these a long time ago. They catch EVERYTHING and they have saved me from food sliding down my drains. Easily lays right over the sink drain and is flush with the drain. LOVE it!

as advertised but small holes, small food bits trapped and hard to tap out – It works as advertised, but it’s not an epiphany, and I may go for a more traditional strainer for three reasons. First, it’s too fine of a strainer, so almost no food bits get through, which some may prefer if they want to catch everything, but it’s too fine for my needs. Second, small bits tend to stick to the holes so they don’t just tap out into the trash can; I really have to wipe the small bits out with a bit of a paper towel, or more easily turn it upside down in the tap water to rinse the bits into the drain on purpose to easily get the strainer clean. Third, it’s kind of tinny, and I think I prefer the more traditional heavier all-steel versions – this one is very thin steel with a rubber or silicone stem. Another reviewer is also correct that the stem/handle is raised so that if you rest an item over the drain like a dish or pot, that item will be off-kilter and block the holes on the top of the stem/handle, although that does have the advantage of letting sink-water hit the bowl of the strainer rather than having the entire strainer sealed off by the bottom of the dish or pot on top of the strainer. In summary, pros and cons on the design – will probably depend on your preferences. Good value at half of the list price that I got from Amazon.

Holy Grail kitchen sink gadget! – My brother and his girlfriend were raving about this SinkShroom (aka. sink basket or drain trap) so I thought I’d give it a try since I hated the other two that I’ve purchased.

Best sink drainer ever made! – This is Awesome! I have tried so many different ones and they have never worked how I’d like. I have finally found the best one ever! No kidding either! Very close fitting to sink so food does not get stuck around the edges. Smaller holes in drainer so even if food breakdowns it will not goes down the drain. If a lot of food in drainer, water still flows thru the holes in the top of the handle so sink doesn’t hold water. I just Love Love Love this item! Great for a wedding

This works great! – I just bought another one for my second kitchen sink. I love that the holes are smaller than regular traps because it works great on cleaning out cat food dishes.
