Like the masks but received expired ones – I really like these masks. They are comfortable and protect well. I have been buying them every few months. I just read an article about what to look for in masks to make sure they are not knock-offs. One thing to look for is expiration date on the packaging. I never thought masks would expire! So, I never looked. I checked the set I bought in mid August and found the expiration date was July 2022! I will be using these in a few months, and I doubt they will fall apart that fast. Still, I was disappointed that Amazon sent me expired ones. That is the only reason I gave these a 4-star rating.

REVIEW PLUS HEALTH TIPS – I went to the hospital to get an ultrasound. Even though six hospital staff had their masks hanging on one ear, I felt pretty safe with these masks. I wore 2 masks at once (safer with more layers) and used a Velcro brand strap to hold the strings/stretchy bands behind my head, so the mask’s strings would not hurt the back of my ears. The strings/bands still put a liitle pressure on the top of the ears with the velcro strap but it is not bad. The unique design (although slightly odd looking) and structure really holds up and makes them durable. The “weld” marks are not holes. They increase the strength of the mask and because of this, the masks hold tight and gives about a 95% seal around your face. I mean you see the mask gently pressing the flesh of your face with no gaps. I don’t mean that it blocks 95% of airborne particles through the filter/fabric. I do not know that fact. If the the bar is secured just right on the nose, there is only a tiny leak out the top area above your nose. I think that leaving the nose bar in a narrow pinched form made the best seal for me. This does make mask go up a little between the eyes and the small air leak did fog up my protective safety glasses. I wonder if putting a piece of tape around the nose bridge area of the mask would close off enough of the air leak to prevent fogging on the glasses. It is worth the try. I saw a picture of a doctor getting his mask taped to his face to stop air leaks. With the method I described (2 masks with Velcro straps and making sure the masks are sealed around your face and keeping the nose bar snug around your nose, these masks are very good.) I placed the outer mask slightly higher than the inner mask so the nose bars would not be one directly on top of another. Rather, the upper mask nose bar was slightly above the inner mask nose bar. This way the seal was still good maybe even better around the upper bridge of the nose. A bonus, the masks smell really good and clean like new sheets to me and it is easy to breath even with two masks. They come in a resealable little bag that even has a moisture silica pouch to keep it fresh and new. I did not give five stars because of the price and the fact that using only one mask which is kind of thin, would not be five star protection in my opinion. I don’t know how a real scientific study would rate these. I do think they create a great seal on the face. I did my own test. With two masks I tried to blow black pepper in a bowl and saw absolutely no movement. I also could not move a stove flame with my exhale with two masks on. I know viruses in aerosol are tiny but these masks definitely appear to block regular breath, and it would appear, large particles like saliva droplets. After one week of using the same two masks together at once (in my house around my family) it starts getting a little harder to breath. I think this is a good thing because that means they are trapping particles.
